The Fifth Force

The strong, the weak, EM, and grav
are not the only ones we have.
The fifth and strongest basic force
I claim is comedy, of course.

This force's boson, I shall call
the lafon, not to be banal.
It has a spin that's integer,
but ultra-huge and dizzier.

The lafon’s mass is still in doubt,
though folks have tried to find it out.
It seems immune from gravity,
yet often falls disastrously.

Some lafons carry charge or charm,
and some set off bad taste alarms.
They travel at the speed of light
or sometimes fail to take their flight.

Most quantum folks who've had this thought
contend that, in addition, ought
another particle comport,
neutrino of the lafon sort.
This poem's a lafino.

This poem is just for fun. It was inspired by an episode of the podcast Daniel and Jorge Explain the Universe – in particular, by the corny humor that the hosts use (and which I love).
